Crochet – for Beginners
Crochet is a versatile technique, easy and quick to learn. It only requires yarn and a crochet hook. Unlike knitting, every stitch is worked individually, allowing to create diverse two- and three-dimensional shapes.
During the course you will learn the basic crochet stitches, to work in rows and in rounds and read crochet patterns (written and charted).
Day 1
Materials and tools; fibres, yarns, types and thicknesses
Labels: composition, care instructions, weight, code, needle size
Hooks: types and sizes. Holding the hook and the yarn
Basic stitches lexicon: slip stitch, chain, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, treble
Day 2
Basic chart symbols and abbreviations; crochet charts reading
Granny squares; basic square motifs
Day 3
Crochet in rounds – flat
Increases; colour changes
Day 4
Crochet in rounds – three-dimensional
Project development: beanie
Finishing: weaving in ends, blocking
