For Makers Who Care

Natural Dyes and Textile Courses

We are Josefina and Luzius, the heads and hands behind Anna & Juan – a textile and yarn company that was active from 2011 to 2024. We value textile-related craftsmanship and believe that making something with your own hands transforms awareness of the short- or long-term durability of textiles.

With Anna & Juan, we aimed not only to design and produce responsibly but also to share our knowledge and the expertise of other textile artists and professionals. To that end, we held over 600 workshops and courses – publicly in our studio, as well as in collaboration with schools, museums, and other institutions, such as:

  • Ballenberg Course Centre (Kurszentrum Ballenberg)
  • Bern Historical Museum (Bernisches Historisches Museum)
  • Fondation Beyeler (four workshops in the walk-in installation “Gaia Mother Tree” by Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto at Main Station Zurich)
  • Fraunhofer Institute Dortmund (“Innovative Citizen Days”)
  • Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Hochschule Luzern)
  • Lucerne University of Teacher Education (PH Luzern)
  • Museum for design and visual communication (Museum für Gestaltung Zürich)
  • School of Design in Basel (Schule für Gestaltung Basel)
  • St. Gallen Textile Museum (Textilmuseum St.Gallen)
  • St. Gallen University of Education (PH St.Gallen)
  • YouTube (Google)
  • Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW)
  • Zurich University of the Arts (ZhdK)

Anna & Juan – Shop and Studio

Anna & Juan – Wool and Textile Supplies

We also ran an online shop offering yarns – hand-dyed with natural resources in our studio in Zurich, Switzerland.

After 13 years of Anna & Juan, we decided to take a break and close the shop in 2024. Though we’ve stepped back, we continue to share free resources and occasional newsletters, keeping our connection with you alive.

And what are we doing now?

Josefina has been teaching yoga classes for mums since 2019 and will continue to do so. You can find her on her website josefinayoga.com.

Luzius works at the Naturmuseum St.Gallen. From time to time he also posts his illustrations on Instagram.
