Embroidery Workshop with Adriana Torres (Miga de Pan): Fantastic Liony Manes
Hand embroidery on wood workshop
“A lion king, cats with wings, a caped-and-capped fox who conjures, and a sweater-draped chair that seems to come alive… The often anthropomorphic embroideries of Adriana Torres are as full of life as they are rich in texture. Using a muted pastel palette accented with the occasional touch of silver or gold, Adriana employs a seemingly endless number of meticulously placed stitches to create whimsical embroideries that tell a story in a single frame. The artist calls on various techniques to build depth and a unique tactile quality into each of her embroideries, often casting shadows that become as much a part of each work’s narratives as the characters and scenes they depict. Each capturing but a brief moment in time, Adriana’s curious creations leave you aching to discover what happens next.”
Join us for a day-long workshop with Adriana where students will learn how to embroider on wood when creating their own unique placid lion masks.
We are thrilled that Adriana Torres aka Miga de Pan will be joining us again in March, providing us with the rare opportunity to get a glimpse of her design philosophy, exquisite techniques and extraordinary embroidery.
