Seed harvesting
The plants in our garden are getting ready for the upcoming colder days.
In the last days of September tansies were full of beautiful yellow blossoms, ready for the dye pot.
Pokeberries had their characteristic dark magenta bunches of fruits, unfortunately there were not enough to make dye samples yet. Hopefully next year, when the plants grow bigger.
A “second generation” of weld is growing rapidly, as we harvested 2 meter tall plants earlier this year.
We collected dyer’s broom, weld, lady’s bedstraw and madder’s seeds (for the last ones we recommend wearing gloves to pick them in order to avoid getting black fingers for a week!).

Last, we also have a few indigo plants left that we are planning to keep inside during the winter to gather the seeds once they are ripe.
Among other things, our plan for next year is to start a new garden, this time in the city. More information coming soon!
