Review: Natural dyes workshop in Boniswil

Last Saturday we had the pleasure to share our experience with natural colours once again.
Not only we were able to show our dye plants to the participants, but we could also work outside next to the garden and enjoy a beautiful summer day.
This time we prepared several dye baths with five different dyestuffs including some of the traditionally used like indigo, madder and weld (which we harvested from our own little field).

The following picture shows handspun yarns dyed with (left to right): madder, weld, cherry bark, hollyhocks and indigo.

We also practiced some shibori techniques on specially prepared silken scarves. The tie-dye method allows one to obtain interesting color effects and patterns.

We spent a fantastic day with a wonderful group of ladies and gorgeous natural colours.

You can apply for the next Natural Dyes Workshop next Saturday 24 August here and learn how to hand-dye your own silken scarf!
