Tussah Silk Plant Dyed – Sport Weight – 100 g | Anna & Juan

Tussah Silk “Plant Dyed” – Sport Weight – 100 g

Tussah silk is obtained from the cocoons of silkworms belonging to the moth genus Antheraea. The typical golden-yellow base colour of the undyed tussah fibre is caused by the leaves the silkworms feed on.

This tussah silk yarn is very soft and smooth. It is ideal for light shawls and summer sweaters. (Not recommended for baby clothes.)

Anna & Juan’s raw tussah yarn is OEKO-TEX certified and spun in Switzerland.

All coloured versions are limited!

sustainability:
The Tussah yarn is spun from “waste” fibres from the silk industry (but it is not wild/non-violent silk).

The label Anna & Juan is a small-scale producer. Please keep that in mind when placing your order.

Please note:

  • Although we try to display our products as accurately as possible, the yarn colour may differ slightly from the colour shown in the pictures.
  • Our wool is hand dyed, this causes irregularities, which are more or less visible depending on the colour. This results in a mottled knitting pattern.
  • We only use natural dyes. Some may rub off on your fingers and tools when knitting, crocheting or similar. Some dyes may also “bleed” superficial molecules into the washing water during the first wash cycles. It is therefore advisable to wash the knitwear separately the first couple of times.
  • The yarn weight may deviate from the indicated number due to fluctuations in humidity. Tolerance range: +/- 4.5 g/100 g. The length of the yarn is not affected.
