Marlies Rüegg

In summer 2013, she completed her textile design studies at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The bachelor’s thesis was entitled “Batik Garis” and is a batik fashion fabric collection complemented with digital prints.
In 2011, the Indonesian-Swiss Marlis Rüegg went back to her roots, travelled to Java and learned three batik techniques in several workshops and in a batik company in Yogyakarta and Bandung. Since then, she has mainly been batiked fashion fabrics.
