Stuffed Toys Design (“49 Tage” Special)

Learn how to design and make your own soft toys and dolls with fabric and thread.
Whether you want to start your own business or simply enjoy making something original with your hands – during this 4 classes course you will learn how to develop soft toys from a sketch, draft patterns and sew prototypes.
Throughout the lessons we will help you developing increasingly complex projects. The course will highlight form and pattern structure.
We will also review different materials and tools and discuss general aspects of sewing as well as finishing techniques, customization and toy safety.

Day 1:
Materials review: fabric types, threads and stuffing
Basic doll making tool kit, specific gadgets
Inspiration sources, visual research; from sketch to reality
First project development: simple outline toy

Day 2:
Basic doll shapes, proportion variations
Expressions and character; embroidered features

Day 3:
Creating volume; convex and concave shapes; gussets and darts
Case study: teddy bears

Day 4:
Pattern edition; prototype finishing
