Indigo – Magic Blue

Literature often refers to it as the king of dyes. For centuries it has been used on almost all continents to dye textiles and it remains in vogue also nowadays. The most popular article of clothing owes its color to indigo: the Blue Jeans. But considering the complexity of the dyeing process it is rather astonishing that so many cultures discovered this wonderful source of color.

This crash course will give you an insight into indigo dyeing – which oftentimes appears to be magic. You will learn a recipe, dye various textile samples and a piece of silk (approx. 175 x 35 cm).
