Fixing Knitting Mistakes

Mistakes are just part of knitting, but it’s no fun when they stop you in your tracks and there is no one around to help. Learn to recognize and analyze mistakes, whether a dropped stitch, an extra stitch, twisted stitches, flared edges, or something more “creative.” Learn to back up, correct, modify, compensate, or whatever is required to get you back on track and feeling in control of your knitting.

Homework:
Work 1 swatch in garter stitch (knit on right side, knit on wrong side) measuring approximately 5”x5”/13x13cm; bind-off.

Work 2 swatches in Stockinette (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) measuring approximately 5”x5”/13x13cm. One swatch bind-off. For the other swatch don’t bind-off, leave it on the needles and don’t cut the yarn.

Use for both swatches smooth, light-colored worsted- or Aran-weight yarn with appropriate needles (gauge of 4–4.5 stitches per inch).

Supplies to bring:
Bring yarn and needles used for swatches, double-pointed needles and crochet hooks two sizes
smaller than needles, scissors.
