Crocheted Toys (Amigurumi) – Basics – with Yan Schenkel (Pica Pau)

You can choose to crochet René Caiman, Murray Sea Otter or Pedro Von Dito Pig (or the three of them!). We will do a general review of the basic crochet stitches and all the techniques necessaries to make almost any crocheted toy. We will also learn simple and satisfactory techniques to sew parts and crocheting toy accessories and garments.

Yan Schenkel is an Argentinean professional crochet toy designer and the founder of Pica Pau. Besides working on her toys and designs, she has collaborated with several illustrators, authors, and brands such as Faena Hotel, Fanny & Alexander and Anthropologie. She has worked on a broad range of projects, from illustrating children’s books over producing and designing children events at MALBA to designing for a crochet stop motion ad. She is a regular contributor to several crochet and craft publications such as Mollie Makes, Köel Magazine, the Sewing Box, Simply Crochet, the Zoomigurumi series. She is the author of the amigurumi books “El mundo de Pica Pau” (The World of Pica Pau) and “Animal Friends of Pica Pau”, already printed in 7 languages.
Yan Schenkel es una diseñadora y crochetista argentina, fundadora de Pica Pau. Además de trabajar en sus muñecos y diseños, ha colaborado con varios ilustradores, autores y marcas como Faena Hotel, Fanny & Alexander y Anthropologie. Ha trabajado en una amplia gama de proyectos, desde ilustrar libros para niños, pasando por la producción y diseño de eventos infantiles en MALBA hasta diseñar un anuncio de crochet stop motion. Colabora habitualmente en publicaciones de crochet y craft como Mollie Makes, Köel Magazine, The Sewing Box, Simply Crochet y la serie Zoomigurumi.
