Dyeing Garden – Day 85

More than two months after we sowed the seeds and set up the dyeing garden, we have at least a few plants of every species: Madder, Lady’s Bedstraw, Reseda luteola, Tansy, Pokeberry, Dyer’s Broom, Hollyhock and Japanese Indigo.
Although we found out that the neighbour’s cat loves digging the beds over, and some leaves were the favourite snack of snails, the garden looks very good.

Pokeberry. The berries (although poisonous for humans) yield a bright pink.

Indigo (Poligonum tinctorum). The leaves yield blue.

Hollyhock. The flowers yield green-blue.

Madder. The roots yield reddish colours.

Tansy. The flowers and plant tops yield yellow.
